Take a candidate call in one workspace
Start a call from a candidate’s page and keep the candidate, the job, their activity and your notes side by side, in full screen if you like, then wrap up with one saved note.
Start a call from the candidate
Open a candidate and choose Start call next to Resume. The call workspace opens with the candidate on the left, their activity underneath and the job you are calling about on the right, and a timer starts with the call.
The timer shows the length of the call, not the time since you opened it. It counts only while the call page is open and visible, pauses when you switch to another tab or leave the page, and carries on where it stopped when you come back or choose Resume call.
Use Regarding to say which of the candidate’s active jobs the call is about. It begins with the job the candidate was most recently updated on, or General when they are not on any. Jobs the candidate has been rejected from are not listed.
Add the candidate to a job from the call
When the call is not about a job, the Job panel says so and offers Add to a job. The same Add to a job is at the bottom of the Regarding menu. It opens a list of your open jobs, newest first, with each job’s title, client and location, and a search box that looks at the title, the client and the location.
Posting packages are not listed. A job the candidate is already on is marked On job and cannot be added again. Choose Add on a job and the candidate is added at the job’s first stage, the same way Other jobs that fit adds them, a spinner shows on that row while it works, and Regarding then switches to that job so the Job panel shows it. If the candidate cannot be added, the window stays open and gives the reason. Who is allowed to add candidates to a job has not changed.
Use the whole screen
Choose Full screen next to the Candidate call menu to give the call the whole window. The RecruitIQ top bar, the frame around the page and the bottom bar are hidden, the call fills the window edge to edge, and your browser goes full screen too where it allows that. If it does not, you still get the larger layout. Notes, the resume drawer and the menus keep working.
Choose Exit full screen, or press Escape while the browser itself is full screen, to go back; the layout and the browser return together. RecruitIQ remembers your choice on the browser you use, so your next call opens in the larger layout. A browser only starts full screen after you click, so on a later visit you get the larger layout and choose Full screen again if you also want the browser itself full screen. My Notes, Shortcuts and Report issue live in the bottom bar and come back when you exit.
Everything you need while you talk
The Candidate panel shows how to reach them, with phone and email links and a Copy button for each, the jobs they are on with their stage and how long they have been in it, their AI summary, their skills and who their recruiter is. The Job panel shows the pay, where the job is (written as a place, such as New York, NY) and the type of work, an Only for you box with the job’s internal notes, an Ask checklist built from the job’s screening questions, and the full description when you want it. Anything the job does not have is left out instead of shown as a blank.
Other jobs that fit lets you search your open jobs by what the candidate wants, using the same search as the Jobs page, and add them to a job with one press. Jobs they are already on say so. Resume shows the resume next to everything else, and the Resume button at the top opens the usual resume drawer. A Word resume is shown in the full preview rather than inside the panel.
The Job panel has its own Switch job menu at the top. It lists the candidate’s jobs with their client and stage, General, and Add to a job at the bottom, and choosing one changes the job the call is about, exactly as the Regarding menu does. Panels are drawn on white so the text is easy to read, with the light grey kept between them.
The Resume panel has zoom buttons: − and + move between 50% and 200%, the percentage between them shows where you are, and clicking it fits the resume to the panel’s width again. Every other panel has Smaller text and Larger text buttons (A− and A+) in its header, with four sizes from 90% to 125%. Each panel keeps its own size, and so does the Notes window, on the browser you use.
Arrange it your way
Drag the dividers, or focus one and use the arrow keys, to give a panel more room. Choose a panel’s title to show something else there; picking a panel that is already open swaps the two. Each panel can be made full size or closed, and a closed panel leaves a plus you can use to bring one back.
The layout is remembered for you on the browser you use. Open the Candidate call menu and choose Reset this layout to go back to the original, which also puts the Notes window’s size and every panel’s text size back to normal. In a window narrower than 900 pixels the panels become tabs and Notes becomes a sheet at the bottom.
Notes that save as you type
Notes opens as a small window you can drag by its title bar, move with the arrow keys and minimize to a pill at the bottom right. It opens at the bottom right and stays above the page, including the resume drawer, and saves on your browser as you type, so a refresh or an accidental click away does not lose it. Earlier notes on the candidate are listed below and can be edited in place. What you write here goes to Activity only when you wrap up.
Resize Notes like a window: drag any side or corner, or focus the grip in its bottom right corner and use the arrow keys. It will not get smaller than about 320 by 280 pixels or larger than your window, it stays inside your window when you resize it or go full screen, and the note field grows with it. Its size and place are remembered on the browser you use.
Wrap up with one note
Wrap up shows the note exactly as it will be saved: a first line such as Call · 14 min · re: Payroll Coordinator, then what you wrote. The minutes come from the same call time as the timer, so time the page spent hidden is not counted. You can also move the candidate to another stage of that job, and RecruitIQ asks for the interview time first when that stage collects one, and set a follow-up reminder that starts at tomorrow at 10:00 AM and can be changed.
Save and end call creates the note once, makes the changes you chose, clears the call and takes you back to the candidate. If something cannot be saved, the dialog stays open, says what was already saved and keeps your draft. Trying again does not add the note a second time.
What to know
Leave without wrapping up and your draft is kept, so the candidate page offers Resume call. Choose Discard call in the Candidate call menu to remove it. Drafts live on the browser where you wrote them and do not follow you to another computer.
Because the timer counts only while the call page is visible, a call you take while working in another tab reads shorter than it really was. A draft saved before this change starts counting again from 00:00.
A call with nothing written adds nothing to Activity. Reminders belong to a job, so a General call cannot set one. Moving a candidate to a rejection stage is not offered here; use the candidate page, where you choose whether they are told.
